I started making handmade monster storage solutions for kids called Mon-stors © after a move from the East Coast to the Midwest forced me to downsize. Looking for a storage solution that didn't take up much floor space was tough, so I made my own in the form of monsters that hung from a door and "ate" toys - and they became a hit! A few months after making the first Mon-stors© for my son, I quit my day job and dove head first into being a handmade business owner at just 23 years old - and I have loved every minute of it!In Summer of 2011 I opened a brick and mortar store to support artisans all over the country by providing them with a low-cost venue to sell their wares in addition to art business resources - marketing, branding, advertising, and social networking consultations. I helped over 50 handmade businesses thrive in the short year we were open before we had to close our doors in the summer of 2012 due to a cancer scare and other health complications. Since then I have relaunched Daft Crafts as a blog to provide indie business resources - social media networking advice, marketing, time management, branding, and showcases to bring the spot light to exceptional artists.
