For a quick snapshot of my history: After graduating from the U of Michigan (go blue!), I went to law school in my hometown of Chicago with a goal to work in the music business. A summer associate job at a record label’s legal department in NYC taught me law practice wasn’t for me. So I moved to California and pursued nonlegal jobs in the music industry. I got to work for my rock star heroes, worked in a marketing department, managed bands, and was ultimately getting hired to do music licensing thanks to my JD.As the industry contracted, I wanted a new way to apply my law background. So I made a career change and became a legal recruiter in 2003.During the 2010s, I created JD Careers Out There to help lawyers explore alternative careers. My one-to-one, group, and self-guided career coaching programs have helped lawyers across the U.S. to figure out what fits them (law or otherwise). In 2022, I returned to legal recruiting so I can continue helping lawyers find the right career fit while also connecting them to their next law jobs. As of 2023, I'm also a Certified Executive Coach thanks to an International Coaching Federation (ICF) training program.
