I am a software developer and "data wrangler", originally from The Netherlands, but nowadays living in Tampere (Finland).For the software development side of my work I have been using many different programming languages and technologies: recently C#, Python, F#, JavaScript, and in the more distant past also Matlab, C, C++, Java, LUA, Delphi, and others. My primary tool of choice is C#, with some F# sprinkled on top and a side dish of JavaScript.Since November 2022 I have been working as a Senior Software Designer at Gofore.Before that, since February 2000, I worked at VTT research as a (senior) research scientist, working on healthcare data related topics:* analyzing healthcare related data (from sensor data to databases and everything in between)* healthcare data storage and "flow" (designing data acquisition systems all the way from sensor to cloud data storage and web APIs to access that data)* signal processing and analysis (one dimensional)* developing solutions for synchronizing signals from independent devices* helping develop the software side to interact with new hardware designs* feature extraction* visualization.Many of those tasks involved software development:* cloud based web servers (mostly in Azure)* cloud-specific data storage solutions* stand-alone web servers (UIs and web services.)* SQL and NoSQL databases.* developing command line tools for specific data wrangling tasks* developing generic command line tools for use in scripting (for data processing tasks)* desktop graphical data visualization* novel data analysis method development and implementationI studied Electrical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology, with a focus on information technology, first leading to a MSc degree in 1992 and later culminating in a PhD degree in 1999.
