At NEL-i, I have the opportunity to collaborate with companies all over the world as we work to address the climate crisis together. My areas of focus include: development of carbon offset projects from feasibility study to credit generation; implementation of clean energy technologies and their integration in evolving legal frameworks; and consulting with public and private entities to establish ambitious, achievable and impactful climate action projects.By helping clients to evaluate the technical, financial, and environmental consequences of the options that are available to them, we mitigate their risks and ensure that they are rewarded for the benefits they bring.

At COPP Net Zero I analyzed the environmental and climate characteristics of building materials, engaged in dialogue with clients in the building industry, and performed public outreach and education on the topic of embodied carbon.

Lendrum Environmental provides professional design, consultation, and technical translation in the field of wastewater treatment. With expertise in the municipal, agricultural, and industrial sectors, we help our clients design infrastructure and processes that ensure efficient operation, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship.

I studied the IMETE - International Masters in Environmental Technology and Engineering (M.Sc.) through the Erasmus Mundus program. The program involved coursework in environmental microbiology, soil remediation, air pollution, solid waste management, and my personal favourite, wastewater treatment. I did my thesis on anaerobic ammonia oxidation (Anammox), featuring numerical modeling of this process inside a wastewater treatment plant, as well as a deep review of what it would mean for wastewater treatment to be truly sustainable.

In my civil engineering studies, I specialized in environmental and water resources. Specifically, I focused on hydrology and open-channel hydraulics. Graduated with honours.

Supervised by Dr. Colin Rennie (river hydraulics) and Dr. Robert Delatolla (water treatment), I investigated the path and fate of human pathogenic viruses released to the Ottawa River via wastewater effluent. This project gave me the opportunity to learn and implement microbiological techniques in experiments of my own design.

Vertigrow designed, installed, and maintained indoor vertical gardens. We developed an innovative modular system, allowing for attractive and cost-effective installations in a wide range of spaces.While this business was a tremendous learning opportunity, I dissolved the corporation in order to pursue a career in environmental engineering.

I was fortunate to work with Dr. Robert Delatolla, and his Master’s student Katrine Dupuis on Moving-Bed Bioreactor research in conjunction with Britannia Water Treatment Plant. My role was to test the effluent from the bioreactors at different points through the backwash cycles over two months.

As the highest decision-making body at the University of Ottawa, the Senate and its committees taught me much about how this university operates. I was honoured to take on this role, and feel that I gave it everything that I could. Despite this, the experience left me convinced that I am better-suited to technical expertise than to the management of public institutions.
