Provides administrative leadership and management oversight to the athletics and physical activity programs and the equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging and client services initiatives. Direct oversight of 30 full-time and over 1,000 part-time teammates. Directing the development of university-wide strategic priorities, specific program objectives and operational and capital budget processes. Accountable for the provision of a wide range of high-quality educational, athletics and physical activity opportunities that address, in a proactive way, the sport, fitness and health needs of the diverse student population and the general community. Providing sound administrative management, instilling best practices, policies, procedures and processes that support the strategic objectives.

Accountable for managing all sports and recreation programs and facilities at the City of Markham, ensuring high-quality standards and fiscal sustainability. Continuously improving program and service delivery models through effective budgeting, resource allocation, and identification of revenue. Upheld smooth communication flow across staff at all levels, including the City of Markham’s 4 Community Managers and 150 full-time staff.

Initially hired to manage delivery of community-oriented services facilitated by the Seasonal Recreation, Community Recreation, and Sporting Division in collaboration with Councillors and other officials. Secured another tenure with this organization, shifting operational focus recreational and fitness programs across the Greater Kanata Area via Kanata Leisure Centre. Managed and programmed 250+ recreational facilities under 100+ associated service agreements.Selected Accomplishments: Achieved annual cost-savings amounting to $500K through standardization of programs, instructor criteria, and market strategy while also providing lean structure to promote value to the organization’s services.  Obtained a 24.4% revenue increase, 18.8% new memberships, and 3.5% cost reduction by optimizing expenditure and allocation of the $3.75M operating and capital budget for the Kanata Leisure Centre.

Seasonal Recreation, Community Recreation and Sport DivisionDuring this first venture into leadership over a municipality’s recreation and sporting division, led a team of 6 Program Coordinators and over 300 seasonal staff to deliver community-oriented services from facilities including tennis courts, wading pools, snow sledding hills, outdoor rinks, and other sites.

Embraced a unique opportunity to manage a highly active and modern facility in a new municipal dynamic.During this enlightening experience:Supported the growth of teams, services, membership and operating policies in a recreational environment relying largely on private enterprises as facility operators.Managed a series of capital projects to support the last Council-led centre in its transition to private ownership.
