• Thesis title: “Simulations and measurements of high-frequency transmons for a quantum transduction experiment”.• Measured and characterized multiple high-frequency transmon qubits. • Performed simulations and optimized the design of transmon qubits using the finite-element electromagnetic eigenmode simulation software Ansys HFSS as well as the energy participation ratio software pyEPR. • Measured and simulated a hybrid device consisting of a high-frequency transmon flip-chip bonded to a high-overtone bulk acoustic resonator (HBAR).

• Thesis title: “Design and setup of an acousto-optic modulator board in the double-pass configuration”. • Tested and characterized an acousto-optic modulator (AOM) for the 397 nm S1/2 to P1/2 transition in Ca40+.• Designed (using CAD) a breadboard of the AOM in the double-pass configuration on a breadboard for a 19-inch rack system. • Tested the breadboard with the AOM. The board will be integrated into the main experiment which has the goal of creating two-qubit gates using GKP states.
