Undergraduate Student ResearcherCornell Transportation Engineering Team (Masters Of Engineering Project) Aug 2024 - PresentIthaca, New York, United StatesI attend research meetings, complete calculations related to traffic density, highway optimization, carbon emissions, renovation costs, etc., and contribute to the M.ENG team's final project. I also traveled with the team to the Syracuse, NY interstate 81 renovation site."This project focuses on major urban transportation infrastructure, its decommissioning at the endof its life, and its redesign to better support communities, especially those who may have beennegatively affected in the past. The focus is on the city of Syracuse, NY, where Interstate 81 is tobe rerouted around the periphery of the city on the existing bypass Interstate 481, and replacedby a “business loop” with street travel at grade level and at-grade intersections. The project is anexample of "urban freeway decommissioning", which has become popular in a number of U.S.cities as leaders realize that they would rather have higher quality of community life than anexpressway."
