My name is Luca, and I am currently pursuing a PhD in physics at imec and KU Leuven. I am studying some of the mechanisms responsible for the performance degradation of transistors based on 2D materials. My research aims to limit these detrimental processes in order to make 2D transistors reliable and industrially viable. The advantages of using such devices? There are many, and they cover many different areas, but to put it simply, they could make our computers and electronic devices faster and more efficient, so that you no longer have to waste your precious time waiting for your old computer to run a basic code or curse your laptop manufacturer because of poor battery life.
