Due to the demanding nature of running and managing the below mentioned retail space and providing valuable ‘crew day sessions’ for the learning disabled members involved, my workload shifted away from the graphic design and web design roles of ‘Electric Umbrella’ as an organisation to focus on everything ‘Instruments for Change’. Advancing the shop, the system and creating promotional material, as well as managing staff, volunteers and work experience students.

With the success of the ‘Instruments for Change’ project (see below), Electric Umbrella opened a physical retail space to run these operations and ‘crew day sessions’ where learning disabled adults would join us and run the shop alongside us. At this time, as well as continuing my below mentioned roles, I also reviewed our monthly SEO audits that were done externally and continued to front the ‘Instruments For Change’ project. Creating an advanced inventory system from scratch, allowing anyone to donate an item and automatically creating it a unique identifying SKU number and barcode for it to sync onto our website and till system simultaneously to track all donation and sales information. The biggest focus on this system was to create something that learning disabilities adults could use without it being too confusing.

I started at Electric Umbrella as their designer for all website, social media and physical material. This involved creating fun images promoting weekly zoom karaoke sessions. One with celebrity guests and one for schools which allowed me to have a bit more fun and creativity coming up with silly, gripping images. I was also given a project to convert a series of book readings over zoom into a fun, follow along YouTube series for kids. Examples of all of these can be found on my portfolio that is presented at the bottom of the page.During this time I was also heavily involved in the admin processes, creating a database of all of the SEN schools in the UK including contact details for each, as well as playing a main key role in setting up the project ‘Instruments For Change’. A project where people donate their old musical instruments to be fixed up by professionals alongside learning disabled adults, to then be used in musical activity sessions or sold. If they aren’t in a good enough condition to be restored they are turned into new creations like trumpet lamps. This project received nationwide news coverage by the BBC, ITV and Sky News among others.

In my home studio I offer mixing, mastering and producing services. I am also available for live sound engineering as I am qualified in both.

Britannia Row is an audio rental service for professional audio equipment that is used at musical events such as the Brit Awards and tours for artists such as Elton John, Duo Lipa and Harry Styles.Here I tested and prepared all equipment before loading it into a truck to go out ‘on the road’, and checked everything both for stock and for damage or wear and tear on its return. A big part of this job was the deadlines, no tour could wait for you so you had to have everything done by the given time. I lived 2 hours away from this job, but still made sure to be there earlier every day and most days ended up working late to meet said deadlines.
