Founder & Ceo

New York

I came up with the idea of Wall Street Italia (WSI) as a business and media outlet in the summer of 1999. It happened in New York, where I lived and worked as US correspondent for an Italian newspaper. Against all odds, I decided to leave the traditional journalism world, sensing the coming wave of change brought by the internet. I launched Wall Street Italia on October 11th 1999, with offices at the 73rd floor of the Empire State Building. Because the attractive novelty and innovation of that business model, my company became an immediate success, international angel investors and VC money flew in enthusiastically. For a few years about 30% of WSI shares were owned by HdpNet, the internet company belonging to RCS-Corriere della Sera Group, the Italian media giant. With a team of about 30 employees (journalists, analysts, administrative staff between New York and Milan) we were able to establish a rare example of unbiased and independent approach to economic, business and financial news. This strategy payed exceptionally well during the 2008-2011 global financial crisis, with strong growth in revenues, subscribers and page views. After 15 years as CEO, Editor in Chief and majority shareholder, in October 2014 I sold the company to an internet media group listed at the Milan Stock Exchange.

Milan - New York

I chose financial journalism as my career path when I landed a post-MBA internship in Milan at "Mondo Economico", "Il Sole 24 Ore" weekly magazine. Later I became a business and financial editor at "Il Mondo" (RCS-Corriere della Sera Group). Afterwards I was selected as US Correspondent and moved to the USA. In New York along the years I worked as correspondent for several major Italian media outlet, including "Il Giornale", "ANSA" , "L'Espresso", "La Repubblica", "Milano Finanza", "The Street". I appear from time to time as a financial, macroeconomic and political commentator on several Italian tv and radio programs for RAI, Mediaset, SkyNews, La7 and others.
