My research activity concerns Fuzzy Pattern Recognition, Neural Networks and Time Series Forecasting.

Research area: Indoor wireless positioning systemsMaster's thesis title: "Hybrid algorithms for indoor positioning based on RFID and Wi-Fi tecnologies"Description:In this work we have presented a study about the "indoor positioning, i.e. the ability to detect and recognize a mobile terminal within a confined space, so that they can interact with it by providing services of various kinds. The GPS technology is not available indoor, and we noticed that there isn’t an equivalent of the GPS for the indoor. In other words, we thought that it could be useful to create a system to guide people and give them information about where they are also in public places like university campuses, hospitals. Our work is part of an european project called "SPinV", an acronym of "San Pietro in Vincoli", which is the seat of the Faculty of engineering, where the project has been implemented, but it was also an acronym of "Supporting People indoor: a navigation Venture". Within the SPinV project we considered the following aspects:- Part one: Review of Indoor Positioning techniques;- Part two: Ability to implement an RFID-based positioning system in the ground floor of my university;- Part three: Analysis by simulation. We created a simulator in MatLab able to analyze changes in performance of the systems we’re going to describe.
