My career has been fairly diverse, spanning several areas of business and research, which, besides being fun (most of the time), has also given me the opportunity to work with great people in interesting sectors. On a personal level, I am passionate about science, technology, innovation and have a keen interest in current affairs, history, the arts, culture and global issues.My background is in theoretical physics, which I studied to a PhD level. I spent several years in the academia, carrying out research in high energy nuclear and particle physics, with a bit of teaching on the side, before joining the corporate world.I received full training in project management methodologies and quality assurance standards, and acquired experience as a customer focused project manager and a team leader. I have had a long experience (18 years in total) in software design and development, implementing large-scale n-tiered commercial systems using database and Web technologies.In the past years, I have worked with academia, industry and investors in innovation and commercialisation of research ideas in different areas of deep-science and deep-tech, from cyber security to quantum technologies and currently am helping develop business as an innovation manager. Outside of work, I am an amateur historian, with interests in different branches of science, philosophy, literature and linguistics. I spend a ludicrous chunk of my salary going to the theatre, art exhibitions, cinema, concerts and every other sort of cultural events. Oh, and in books! I am a keen writer, with contributions to several publications as a freelancer. I have been a book reviewer for the 'BBC History Magazine'.
