Growing up steeped in Judaism, I center myself in the Hebrew word “rahum” or, to me, an instinctive compassion for others’ well-being and a vision for the world where every person has the same access to resources, dignity, and joy. I care about people and choose building relationships over transactional thinking. In my career, I leverage research and evaluation to promote healthy, strong, equitable communities. Currently, I serve as Director of Research Services at Casey Family Programs, the nation’s largest operating foundation focused on safely reducing the need for foster care in the United States. I’m also working toward my PhD in Sociology at the University of Washington.I bring a decade of experience in health and human services data strategy working with the non-profit, public, and private sectors, from small grassroots organizations to large national foundations. I have previously partnered with the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, the Redlich Horwitz Foundation, Children’s Health Fund and its network of pediatric programs across the U.S., and the NYC Administration for Children’s Services—one of the largest local child welfare agencies in the U.S., among many others.Connect with me at luke@rahum.io. Or, you can find me writing poetry or playing early blues and jazz guitar around Seattle, WA where I live with my partner, our two cats, and our dog.
