Lucas Cole Email and Phone Number

My Ojibwe name is Mino M’shki-ki Aki Inini, given to me by Two Spirit Elder, Peetanacoot Nenakawekapo, and my English name is Lucas Corbin (Ross). I am Anishinaabe from Couchiching First Nation, Treaty 3. Although displaced from my culture and language because I have not lived on the land of which my Ancestors came from, my mission is to reclaim the knowledges and stories that were left behind to honour my Grandmother’s life.I predominately spent my upbringing on Treaty 2 territory, the traditional homelands of the Dakota, Anishinaabeg, Oji-Cree, Cree, Dene, and Metis peoples (Brandon, MB). However, it was when I moved to Treaty 1 territory, traditional homelands of the Dakota, Anishinaabeg, Oji-Cree, Cree, Dene, and Metis peoples (Winnipeg, MB), that I started connecting and building relationships with 2SLGBTQIA+ identifying Elders, knowledge holders, and community members. I have spent time on Lheidli T’enneh territory (Prince George, BC) building a relationship with Yahlnaaw in which we moved to and are currently situated on the territories of the LƏK̓ʷƏŊƏN speaking peoples (Victoria, BC). I value embedding anecdotal knowledge and experiences through diverse ways of knowing and being into my work to bridge the systemic gap between academic/institutional spaces and our communities.I am an artist and creator which has given me a keen eye for social media marketing and brand development strategies that specialize in equity, diversity, and inclusive (EDI) principles.Through decolonial practices, I have taken an interest in food sovereignty, food security, and intergenerational wellness that has led me to discover the importance of knowledge and stories across all realms of life and how they affect our healing journey. Our current health and wellness is directly correlated and impacted by colonization. Without our community, culture, physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental health - we cannot engage in equity-seeking values to advance crucial topics such as decolonization, Indigenization and rematriation.
