My main position in thecompany is working in the auto shop there, we maintain fleet vehicles for the cemeteries andfuneral homes and restore vehicles in the collection. I have gained a great amount of skill andconfidence in my mechanical ability in the shop, diagnosing, problem-solving, paying attention todetail, and being effective in a fast-paced environment. I get to work on vehicles that mechanicsin a normal shop will never see, giving me an understanding of unique systems.My job also has me fill the role of curator of the USA World Classics event center. Myresponsibilities include cleaning the vehicles and facility, public relations, and professionalism inserving guests and responding to any needs during events. Working at the event center has taughtme how to accommodate the needs of others better and has shown me what it is like to handlehaving others depend on you while in a position of authority.Lifeguard for City of Vacaville and NorthBay HealthSpring Fitness - (April 2017- March 2020)● Responsibilities and AccomplishmentsMy time lifeguarding was spent at two different facilities. CPR certification and water/land rescuetechniques were an essential part of this job. You hope never to need to use what you learned butare more than prepared to jump into action at a moment's notice. Constant vigilance at all times isa necessity on watch. Respect and patience are both key to being effective; informingpatrons of rules in a kind and professional manner while still emphasizing why they are in placehelps to leave patrons with a sense of understanding without bitterness. The facilities I worked atalso offered swim lessons to children, which I thoroughly enjoyed teaching. Swim lessons are anexercise of patience and determination to help the child reach their goals without gettingdiscouraged. While teaching swim lessons, I had to perform a rescue. My class was with me atthe center of the pool when I noticed a child choking on the deck. I called for the guard on duty,but with the noise, they could not hear me, so I brought my class to the platform and then jumpedout of the water to dislodge what the victim was choking on. This situation shows my ability tostay calm under pressure and adapt to crises.
