I track system performance, evaluate deployment models, initiate projects based on exigent community health and life safety issues, support 200+ users of a fire/EMS records management system, lead geospatial projects with active volunteers, create custom data visualizations and experiences for leadership, and contribute to inter-departmental data analysis projects to support citywide projects. With only civilian work experiences before joining CFD, I immediately saw that the fire service is a unique community. The risk assumed by sworn personnel and the sense of duty to community above self motivates me to serve the department and city and to pursue continuous development of the needed skills to support excellent modern fire and emergency services. I strive to understand the work of our members and the myriad data they collect in the field by riding along on calls, earning EMT-Basic certification, starting days with physical training alongside crews, and donning PPE and breathing equipment to witness fire spread throughout a room in seconds during annual live burn trainings. I love dashboarding, mapping, and visualizing data but also dedicate time to ensure quality and accuracy through a robust quality assurance program and training crews to explain the why behind dozens of data points they collect on 8,000+ incidents annually. The work of managing and analyzing emergency response data is endlessly fascinating (and never-ending) but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Show less

At VIB, I designed a dynamic profit/loss statement covering ten retail stores, two manufacturing plants, eight federal service contracts, and corporate/overhead accounts with revenue exceeding $50 million annually. VIB's mission is to employ and develop Virginians who are blind, visually impaired or deaf/blind to achieve their desired level of employment through the manufacture and delivery of quality products and services. My primary focus was ensuring data integrity and providing insights to managers spread throughout the Commonwealth. My team drove VIB's transition to data-driven solutions to modernize VIB's model to best serve and support state and federal customers. This work was crucial in advancing our ultimate goal of expanding employment opportunities for blind and visually impaired Virginians throughout the Commonwealth while supporting base supplies for multiple branches of the armed forces.
