The project established a global grid of 60 computing centres, networks and middleware (total cost: 59 MCHF) and software (1 million lines of C++) to analyze petabytes of data from CERN's Large Hadron Collider. Responsible for project planning (scope, cost, schedule, 110 FTE of personnel) and core operations budget (1.6 MCHF/year). Led the graphics analysis software team, which ultimately produced the first images of the Higgs boson.

Published innovative research with few co-authors, e.g. top-quarks (Vtb), tau neutrino mass, charged Higgs, and statistical analysis. Data analysis of L3 Scintillating Fibre detector. Created one of world’s first Web sites and co-wrote the 350-page “L3 Computing Guide”.
