We also introduced static analysis, automated testing, 100% code coverage and continuous deployment.- Splitting a monolith in autonomous systemsOver the years the schiphol.nl website had grown a lot to service multiple target audiences which resulted too many requirements, slow pipelines, unclear dependencies.To improve development speed we split various parts to their own autonomous systems which were easier to maintain and faster to deploy.- Building a new KnowledgebaseThe Customer Contact Center is answering questions from travelers, friends/family, taxi drivers etc. on every imaginable subject. To do this successfully they need access to a lot of information. The existing system in use was hard to maintain and difficult to use. in cooperation with end users we built a new application which was fast, easy to maintain and mobile friendly.- Omnichannel content sharingAfter working on various public and private applications I realized there was a lot of content scattered over multiple systems. Merging this content could benefit everyone. So I brought people from various departments together and started out preparing the CMS and merging all content. Creating an E-learning applicationThe government of Newfoundland and Labrador has an extensive range of E-learning courses for their employees. At a certain point these courses needed to be update from a legacy format (Scorm) to Tin Can (xApi). As a sub contractror for a Canada based compan I have built a new e-learning system based on Learning Locker which supports the Tin Can format including a management area. Various web application developmentAt Ibuildings I have worked on various projects, most notably for:Mijndomein.nlMijndomein is a major player in consumer web hosting and domain registration. They have been working hard on modernizing their platform to offer new features to their customers and to release them often and with ease. As part of the Ibuildings team at Mijndomein I have trained employees in working with modern Javascript and PHP frameworks and testing tools. I helped them to build a (mobile) web shop as well.Furthermore I have worked on carving out parts of their application to micro services and connecting them via HTTP APIs and message queues controlled by a central process manager and setting up a (OAuth 2 based) single sign on solution for authentication between all services and the existing platform applications. I have initiated the use of (Docker) containers which is now broadly adopted for production usage accross the entire platform.SURFnet.nlSURFnet provides IT infrastructure and online services to Dutch universities and research institutes. One of the services SURFnet offers is the SAML based OpenConext platform which offers a 'collaborative infrastructure' that allows students, teachers and researchers in the Netherlands to collaborate using online services. As part of the Ibuildings team at SURFnet I did a lot of maintenance and worked on modernizing various components of the platform, improve test and automating deployment and provisioning.Verzekeringssite.nlVerzekeringssite.nl offers comparing and taking insurance policies.
