Analyzed Joint Venture billing practices to ensure operator’s compliance with the joint operating agreements and all COPAS policies and procedures. On behalf of the client, worked with audit teams to perform expenditure, revenue, and compliance audits of joint venture operations in the oil and gas industry and captured significant recoveries for invalid and incorrect charges. Expenditure Audits – reviewed and analyzed drilling costs and expenses, labor costs, and overhead charges for $3 million to $25 million wells to ensure the validity of all charges. Revenue Audits – analyzed and reviewed gross revenue payments for over 50 properties per audit to ensure all revenue was paid correctly; evaluated all compression and gathering expenses and all owner deductions; analyzed oil and gas purchase statements and compared pricing to contracts and pricing agreements. Compliance Audits – Identified and summarized company processes; developed flowcharts; developed ICQs and risk/control matrices; identified and tested controls; analyzed labor practices; analyzed contracts and agreements. As the lead auditor, prepared audit programs and work papers to accomplish audit objectives and prepared concise managerial reports summarizing the audit findings.
