As part of my responsibilities at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I am now the Director of Research for the CIRTL Network. CIRTL is a network of 40+ universities focused on preparing future faculty in evidence-based teaching practices to positively affect undergraduate education.

Responsibilities include: (1) Member of the formative and developmental evaluation team of the NSF Aspire Alliance, which includes the conceptualization and measurement of Alliance functioning and alignment of change activities in support of collective change, the leading of a research study to more fully investigate these dynamics, and evaluation consultation and support for project change teams. (2) Member of the research team of Aspire helping to lead a study of institutional impact of the Alliance that results from aligned change strategies and activities, specifically in regional collaboratives of four-year and two-year colleges and universities. (3) Member of the research and evaluation teams of an NSF IUSE project that is developing professional development programming for future and current faculty in inclusive teaching practices; research the impact of programming on program participants, the development and impact of learning communities, and the correlative impact on undergraduate students in classrooms of professional development program participants; evaluate the development and functioning of the project and efficacy of project activities. (4) Member of the research and evaluation team of CIRTL (as part of a current CIRTL IUSE grant), which includes assisting campuses to examine, from a systems perspective, their program activities, project outcomes, and the development of evaluation plans; the collection and curation of resources to support the development of teaching and learning professional development programs; and the advancement of shared network-level metrics. (5) Other duties included across projects include project leadership, project coordination, supervision and mentoring of project staff, data collection and analysis, the development and submission of grant proposals, and attending and presenting at meetings/conferences.

Responsibilities included: Design and lead a mixed methods study of CIRTL’s impact on member campuses and how institutions develop local CIRTL-related programs, lead a CIRTL working group to collect and disseminate local program evaluation instruments and explore the creation of common metrics, provide research and evaluation support for CIRTL’s National Science Foundation-funded Inclusion across the Nation of Communities of Learners of Underrepresented Discoverers in Engineering and Science (INCLUDES) pilot project that focuses on broadening participation in STEM, member of the INCLUDES leadership team, member of the INCLUDES strategic goal group teams and the evaluation team, design and lead a survey study of community college STEM faculty members’ career pathways, lead and mentor a research team, supervise project staff, data analysis, project coordination, attend professional meetings/conferences, & grant planning and writing.**CIRTL (funded by the National Science Foundation, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, and the Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation) is a network of 36 universities that seeks to improve undergraduate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education through the preparation of future faculty.

Sloan foundation, and the Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation) is a network of 46 research universities that seeks to improve undergraduate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education through the preparation of future faculty. Responsibilities include: member of the research and evaluation team, qualitative and quantitative research design, semi-structured interviews, data analysis, literature review, manuscript preparation, attend professional meetings/conferences, present research findings, supervise and mentor other graduate assistants, coordinate projects, event planning, report writing, and grant planning and writing.Project Website: http://www.cirtl.net/

Funded by the United States Agency for International Development, the Global Center for Food Systems Innovation (GCFSI) seeks to find solutions to critical food system issues.
