Public Policy Challenge WinnerThe Howard H. Baker Jr. Center For Public Policy Jan 2016 - Apr 2016During the spring 2016 semester I competed in the Howard H. Baker Jr. Center's annual Policy Challenge and was fortunate enough to win the challenge. I received a grand prize of $3,000 in the form of a scholarship. In my policy brief, I proposed a health-education and drug-awareness campaign aimed at mitigating opioid abuse, neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS), and unintended pregnancy in the Knox County area. The process allowed me to refine my research, critical thinking, communication, presentation and analytical abilities. In addition, it furthered my knowledge of the policy formation and implementation process. A copy of the policy brief may be found here: http://bakercenter.utk.edu/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Born-Drug-Free-in-TN.pdf.
