Responsible for the technical department of the Internet Business Unit of Sanoma Magazines Belgium (now SanomaMedia). The Internet Business Unit (IBU) is responsible for the major sites of Sanoma (Humo, Flair, Libelle, Moustique, Femmes d'Aujourd'hui, Teveblad, Zappybaby, ...).Since May 2011 all internet activities of SanomaMedia are regrouped in a separate company: Sanoma Digital.The technical department provides the infrastructure (CMS, internet applications like blogs, forums, survey tool, etc.) to the web editors. Major tasks also involve "building" new websites (or subsites) and supporting web editors in their day to day tasks.

Via Winsome (www.winsome.be) I was involved in the Euphony project. Working in the Euphony offices I was working on the design & implementation of a central customer database. This database was used for interaction between different legacy systems and also formed the basis for the commission calculation for Euphony (sales) consultants.Furthermore, I was very closely involved in the startup of ADSL activities of Euphony; as well on ADSL network & services set-up as for the development of the ADSL billing engine.

At Sanoma Magazines Belgium Winsome developed two custom build sites : www.abon.be (magazine subscription management) and www.mygazine.be (Giftbox for magazines) .Parallel with these projects Winsome did a selection for a content management product (Reddot) for the (re-)development of the Sanoma websites. And Winsome did the development of the first websites using this CMS (www.humo.be , www.telemoustique.be , ...) I was the project manager & software architect for these projects.

One of the first employees of the internet start-up Planet Internet: responsible for IT and member of the management team.The company evolved from 18 employees in 1997 to more than 200 in 2002. During these years the IT manager role evolved from very hands-on to a more strategic role.I was responsibility for the IT budget, for IT operations & software development and liaison to KPN Belgium, Planet’s network infrastructure provider.I was also closely involved (including management responsibility) in the start-up of Planet Technologies B.V., set to take over all IT responsibilities for Planet Internet Belgium, Planet Internet Netherlands and Het Net (Netherlands).

- Consultant for software development projects based on Oracle technology in the consultancy department which evolved from 15 to 150 people.- Software developer, technical project lead, strategic advice, proposal writing and coaching for companies like VUM (now Corelio), Interbrew, UCB, DHL, ACC (Caritas Ziekenhuizen), Miller (part of Makro Group).

Developer and team leader for software development projects based on Oracle technology in a Unix environment for several projects for the European Commission (Cordis, Gestel, …).

Support & research for the “Parallel Computing” project (1987-1989) resulting in the publication “Benchmarking the iPSC/2 hypercube multiprocessor (“Concurrency, Practice and Experience, Sept. 1989).Support of the research group “Distributed Operating Systems and Networks (1985-1987) pioneering in distributed systems, Unix, Ethernet TCP/IP and C++.
