About Lucinda Boyd

I am happy to have you get acquainted with me via LinkedIn! I have a Master of Science Degree with a focus in Biochemistry. My thesis project involved understanding the phase transitions in the lipid bilayer utilizing thermodynamics. Using differential scanning calorimetry, synthesized vesicles can be studied in the presence of varying compositions of n-alcohols that are 6-14 carbons long. My thesis work was bio-analytical in nature, and it explores the perturbation of the lipid bilayer in the presence of the alcohol with a focus on transition temperature, change heat capacitance, change in enthalpy as well as pre-transition phases. I have experience in working in diverse environments. I am currently seeking full-time job opportunities within the chemistry career field. Feel free to contact me vialuccibeme@gmail.com

Gem Fellow

Berkeley, California, United States

I developed experimental protocol for the analysis of lignin fermentation. Microbiology lab techniques, including but not limit to aseptic skills, cell culture (i.e. fermentation), and microbial cell sample processing. I also increased my analytical skills for fermentation substrate and product, including HPLC and GC analysis for understanding of the basics of metabolomics, including data processing and data interpretation. I practiced scientific communication skills, including writing and oral presentation upon the conclusion of the internship.I performed fermentation of Rhodosporidium toruloides using carbohydrates with the addition of specific lignin derived aromatic compounds. During fermentation process, I prepared the samples for metabolomics analysis. After analysis, I will performed data analysis and interpretation and presented the results in both written and oral forms to immediate group and the division.
