Achievements: planned and executed several NAT manufacturing system projects in the Chile plant including Production Monitoring & Traceability (PMT) and Material Handling Host (MHH).PMT Project:Blueprint: Worked with GE&MT and Production Team to define the PMT blueprint for component prep. and tire assembly areas.Mindset: Worked with operators, supervisors, managers, and specialists to prepare them for upcoming functional / process changes.Training: Created GWI standard work instructions for the scanning process (Put-in-use and Carrier Birth), Tracehost, and troubleshooting for each machine. Trained approx. 450 operators as well as supervisors, labor trainers, quality, maintenance, IT, production control, EAD, and BCM.Execution: Implemented and tested PMT in comp. prep. and tire assembly. Recommended improvements to GE&MT and worked with them to execute. Successful “go live” in all areas with a complete and sustainable system (calenders, slitter, Steelastics, Cutters, Bead Apexers, Beadwinders and TBMs).TBM Inhibition:In Chile we modified the PMT system to inhibit operation of the TBMs for “no scan - no load”, or wrong material conditions. I led the effort to successfully implement inhibition at all TBMs. This involved changes to the PLC programs as well as significant testing and training for operators, quality, and maintenance personnel. The result has been a reduction in tire scrap from use of wrong materials.Impact of PMT in the Plant:Quality: Since training the quality teams in comp. prep. and building areas, they have used PMT tools to improve traceability, analysis, reporting, management of suspicious materials, hold/release, no scan - no load, material verification, and carrier tracking.
