Postdoctoral position at the UCL School of Pharmacy - funded by Action Medical Research to examine neonatal bacterial meningitis, caused by Escherichia coli K1. The project employed microbiology and molecular biology methodologies combined with in vivo imaging technology with the aim of enhancing our understanding of disease pathogenesis.

Ph.D. placement funded by NERC and Pfizer Animal Health. Thesis title: "The in situ analysis of the microbial community associated with footrot of sheep". The project focused on using culture-independent techniques including, qPCR and fluorescence in situ hybridisation (FISH) combined with confocal microscopy to examine changes in the D. nodosus and F. necrophorum population dynamics over time and in relation to disease presentation. Work experience obtained during undergraduate degree. Key responsibilities included: pre-treatment of neonatal samples for subsequent DNA extraction and qPCR analysis. Other responsibilities included - data input and analysis. Gained experience of working in a public health environment.
