ReviewerCredits is a small startup company, launched in 2016 by two enthusiastic active researchers, Giacomo Bellani and Robert Fruscio. It is accredited to the University of Milan-Bicocca. Its core business is the development, maintenance and upgrade of an online platform which has the purpose of certifying peer reviews and conference talks. ReviewerCredits is listed as an innovative startup company in the Italian Company Registry.

Extensive experience gained in STM publishing. I am responsible for reviewing and strengthening editorial and publication policies as well as production procedures, liaising with all team members and different departments in the organisation, as well as with editors and editorial offices, offering alternative solutions to improve efficiencies and budgets. Training and supervising team members and new members of staff, along with tracking and measuring performance, are also part of my skills. Editorial environment: implementation, deployment and customisation of Editorial Manager for the entire journal portfolio as well as training editors and editorial office staff, creating ad-hoc workflows, correspondence and documentation. Implemented and review of instructions for authors, reviewers and editors, as well as all documentation in support to article submission. Sophisticated plagiarism tools enabled for several journals and training to stakeholders on a regular basis. The deep understanding of the entire production and supply chain enabled the delivery of the most suitable configuration right from the submission. Good communicator with strong organisation skills, I have the experience to manage multiple projects at once. Production environment: review of all procedures connected to production of STM jourals after acceptance, from scheduling to introducing and training new vendors, covering post production database feeds and digital publication. Drastic and effective revision of the entire production process, from the typesetting procedures through to implementing extensive XML datafeeds from the publisher’s platform. Post production activities: the publisher’s platform was developed in partnership with a highly motivated IT company. Actively and constructively participated to the technical development for the entire infrastructure, covering not only online content publication but also e-commerce, subscriptions and website content management.

In charge of the Ophthalmology portfolio including the European Journal of Ophthalmology and Ophthalmology @ Point of Care, newly launched in 2017.These titles have very different needs and I am closely involved with the Editors and their board to ensure journal growth. Generally for each title we identify key topics and attract key submissions, inviting authors as appropriate, I handle the large number of incoming submissions and oversee the production schedule of accepted manuscripts; I am also in close contact with the industry, building a solid reputation for the journals and strengthening their impact on the community. I create and share editorial and production reports on a regular basis, as well as review current configurations in the submission system with the view to improve the turnaround times.
