Graduating from St Hilda's school in 2020 after 14 years of attendance, I am currently a provisional entry medical student studying the Bachelor of Medical Science at Griffith University. This course provides me with the opportunity to actualise my dream of becoming a doctor, with entry into the Doctor of Medicine in 2023. I believe becoming a health professional can lead to a life of fulfilment and it would be a privilege to help people when they are at their most vulnerable. Medicine perfectly combines my love of learning, my passion for science, yearning for a challenge and my desire to help my community. Aside from my tertiary studies, I enjoy my role as an academic tutor with Cluey Learning. Motivating and empowering students to excel is highly rewarding. Through my educational opportunities and experiences working in a range of disciplines, I have developed many skills. Three of which include:1. A strong work ethic. I have consistently achieved a high standard throughout my educational journey, strengthening my drive to be dedicated and focused on my studies. This will be particularly beneficial throughout university and in a position as a health professional, who has the responsibility of being a lifelong learner. 2. Interpersonal skills. My experience as a receptionist and an academic tutor has allowed me to develop proficient verbal and non-verbal communication abilities, which will be essential in a career as a doctor working in multidisciplinary teams. 3. Confidence. I consider myself to be confident, approachable and appreciate the opportunity to speak in public. This ability has been strengthened through my position as a tutor, having the responsibility to lead individual and group sessions. Confidence will be an asset as a doctor, as this role demands expertise, reliance and trust.
