Responsible for delivering strategic and reactive PR and supporting internal comms for a national law firm across five key sectors (education, charity, private client, faith and business) to position the firm as national leaders across six regional offices. Involves:● Building up strong relationships with key journalists at local, regional, national and sector publications to secure regular coverage and find opportunities for working together ● Crafting and coordinating a full range of ‘on message’ content including thought leadership, press releases, web copy, social media, client communications (regular and ad hoc), annual review, successful award entries and supporting marketing copy● Working closely with fee earners and sector heads on PR activity aligned with firm objectives; responding to media queries; to identify/assess potential risks● Working with the wider Business Development & Marketing team to support events, website, products and pitches where needed and ensure PR is aligned.

As the communications side of the Marketing and Communications team I am the go-to person for all writing and have built up new internal and external communications strategies. These include:• Developing, launching and maintaining a news page on the organisation’s website• Launching a fortnightly internal bulletin to increase employee engagement• Redesigning and launching external communications to stakeholders, including bi-monthly eNewsletter to 5,000 recipients and other publications• Building up relationships with up to 55 member journals and trade press and identifying PR opportunities• Establishing and coordinating an engineering communications group to share news and best practice with communications staff at other engineering bodies and institutions• Drafting press releases, editorials and media responses on behalf of the Engineering Council• Using social media platforms to maximise reach and promote the organisation and engineering • Supporting marketing activity through copywriting, including on website, intranet, promotional videos, case studies and production of a range of literature (annual report and review, promotional literature, leaflets, guides).

Contracts at Department of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Social Development and Ministry of Education (MoE). At MoE I was Senior Media Advisor to the head of the Education Infrastructure Service (EIS). Responsibilities there included:• Drafting responses to all media queries and obtaining management sign offs to tight deadlines, including preparation for TV and radio interviews• Writing press releases for the head of Service and the Education Minister’s Office • Internal communications, compiling weekly and monthly bulletins on behalf of the head of EIS. Proofing and advising on internal messaging for senior manager

Pan-European press officer for Savills commercial business (not residential). Position did not exist previously, I developed it into a permanent role by building up strong relationships with offices and journalists across nine European countries. Responsibilities included: • Delivering strategies to ensure regular, positive news coverage for international offices in key publications, such as the Wall Street Journal, The Times, international trade press and social media platforms • Pitching newsworthy stories/data and press releasing significant deals, appointments and newsworthy market research. Breaking down complicated property market data and turning it into attention grabbing press releases• Representing Savills European offices at major annual trade conferences; MIPIM in Cannes and EXPO Real in Munich. Included organising and hosting European journalist networking events• Handling confidential information and crisis management of contentious/sensitive news stories around multi-million property deals by preventing publication and damage control• Building up relationships with industry journalists, editors and external agencies, as well as internally with country heads, senior managers and their clients, so that they would trust me with highly sensitive deals and data • Creating opportunities to promote the firm and individuals as experts and thought leaders• Clear, consistent messaging in line with the company brand, working closely with the firm’s online and marketing teams • Internal communications to raise profiles of individuals and teams through direct messaging and company intranet. Regular contact with Savills global offices (Asia, US, Australia and Mexico), to share news and keep employees up to date on company’s international developments• Working as a team on day to day press office activities (media monitoring, press calls etc).

As entertainment editor I compiled this section for three weekly publications:• Covering regional arts’ scene, liaising with venues, attending events, writing up stories and reviews and interviewing a range of actors, artists, musicians and directors• Soliciting and editing submitted copy• Uploading entertainment content to website and running competitionsAs a Senior News Reporter I covered an assigned district and general news reporting. This involved:• Finding news for a weekly district page with regular after-hours attendance at community and council meetings/events • Building relationships with people of all ages, levels and backgrounds including schools, police, councillors, charities, businesses and other local organisations• Generating general news stories, following up newsdesk calls, regular weekend reporting• Trips to Magistrate’s and Crown Courts and writing up court copy
