As a Policy and Research Officer, I am responsible for collecting, analysing and presenting high-quality evidence to influence local and national policy relating to race equality, human rights and wider themes of equality and inclusion. This includes producing new research and analysis, routinely contributing to policy consultations and roundtables, and providing input to several expert reference groups.In this role, I have led on research projects and strategic policy initiatives focussing on ethnicdiversity within Scotland’s public sector workforce, tackling online hate speech and hate crime, andpeople’s experiences of interpersonal, cultural and institutional racism in Scotland. This includessupporting responsive research efforts relating to emerging media, policy and public inquiryengagements, ensuring that CRER can provide commentary and analysis on relevant current events.I am also responsible for the ongoing development of CRER’s PSED Portal – an online archive ofPublic Sector Equality Duty documentation for Scottish public bodies – and have used this resourceto assess workforce composition and recruitment practices regarding ethnicity and monitor progressagainst the Race Equality Framework for Scotland 2016-2030.Additional responsibilities include maintaining relationships with partnership organisations andother key stakeholders as part of our long-term strategic policy initiatives and presenting researchfindings to diverse audiences. This includes designing and delivering campaigns to raise awareness ofCRER’s research outputs and co-running a series of Black History walking tours within Glasgow’s citycentre for audiences ranging from sector specialists to the general public and education groups.

As the Vice-President of the award-winning Edinburgh University Geographical Society, I primarily held administrative, social media and events responsibilities. During my time at GeogSoc, I worked alongside my team of 15 students to organise and host over 30 social and career events for Edinburgh's geography students and society members. I also coordinated the society's first-ever Black History Month campaigns (2020, 2021), producing two month-long social media campaigns featuring educational resources, infographics, collaborations with academics and local businesses, interviews, and a panel event with high-profile Black geographers.

Communications and Events Intern with the University of Edinburgh's Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities and RACE.ED. Primarily responsible for planning and hosting high-profile academic events, both virtual and in-person, for IASH's Fellows and the general public. Designed and helped build a new microsite for IASH's latest scholarship campaign, IPD '24. This involved graphic design work, site mapping, and liaising with local artists to license their artwork for the website and campaign materials. Organised, branded, produced,and promoted a podcast series to highlight the campaign's research work. Managed internal staff networks and databases, providing administrative support to resident scholars and onboarding support to incoming Fellows.

With MySmallSpace, I am involved in managing site inventory and studying product trends, both on the site and beyond. Through this, I have learned to work with website development tools, improved my aptitude with spreadsheet systems and have gained experience in remote working.

When working with the Bar and Events team, I gained experience in customer service, housekeeping and security, payments and book-keeping. Additionally, I was tasked with creating and running events designed for as many as 75 people.

Whilst working with Buffalo, I participated in charity fundraising via telephone conversations with potential donors; this involved interacting with a wide range of customers and handling financial transactions. This required my being adaptable, articulate and friendly whilst further developing my communication and negotiation skills.
