As a Researcher at DFKI I'm continuing to expand my expertise and interest on trustworthy AI by leading two related research projects. In the scope of MISSION KI (https://mission-ki.de/), we work on the operationalization of test standards to assess the trustworthiness of AI applications in medical applications, while also offering workshops and consultations for interested industry partners through our Innovation and Quality Center (IQZ). In the CurAIscid project, we focus on the development of innovative methods for the explanation of existing Deep Learning models, as well as the discovery of novel biomarkers from data and models.

My doctoral thesis focuses on trustworthy AI in healthcare through the development of methods that ensure explainability, privacy, and ethics of deep learning models in the domain of medical image analysis. The primary use case investigated throughout the thesis is the dermoscopic and clincial analysis of pigmented skin lesions.
