Lucille M. Barbato was born & raised in The Bronx. She began her career in law in 1975 as a legal secretary, became a paralegal & worked her way through college & law school. In June of 1984, Lucille received her Doctorate of Law from Pace Law School & was admitted to the bar on March 25, 1985, becoming the first lawyer & professional in her family. Lucille has been practicing law in the area of plaintiff's personal injury for almost 40 years, the last 25 years as a partner in Spiegel & Barbato, LLP on Westchester Square in The Bronx. Her best friend & husband, Charles H. Spiegel, is her law partner & their office is located in the neighborhood where Lucille grew up. For the past 39 years, Lucille has been active in the courts as a practicing attorney specializing in negligence cases on behalf of seriously injured plaintiffs. She has conducted many trials resulting in numerous six & seven figure settlements and verdicts and is especially skilled in the art of negotiation. She is dedicated to advocating for justice on behalf of her clients and the Bronx community and believes that everyone deserves the representation of an attorney who not only strives for excellence, but is likewise kind, concerned, and compassionate. Lucille is a Past President & active member of the Board of Directors of the Bronx County Bar Association and recently helped to establish their Women's Alliance Committee. She is a founding member of the Bronx Advocates for Justice, on the Board of Directors of the Thurgood Marshall Junior Mock Trial Association & a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, Bronx Women's Bar Association & the Women's Bar Association of the State of New York. Lucille is also on the Advisory Board of Orange Bank & Trust, and she is involved with many community projects and charitable causes.Lucille is privileged to have been named a Power Woman of The Bronx 2020 by Schneps Media & The Bronx Times Reporter & to be honored by the Bronx Women's Bar Association in 2022 for opening doors & empowering others.Her specialties include personal injury litigation & trial work on behalf of plaintiffs for all injury related accidents involving serious injuries including automobile accidents, slip/trip and fall accidents, construction accidents, bus and train accidents, and wrongful death actions. Lucille's hobbies include tennis, lifting weights, swimming, reading, painting, learning to play piano, cooking with her husband Charles, and walking, playing or just relaxing with their 4 dogs: Cara Mia, Antonio, Bella Vita & Stella Dora.
