Mr. Tom Luckey has been building for children since 1985 and has designed many one of a kind play pieces, most of which are in Children Museum's interiors. Mr. Tom Luckey views his own work, which he fabricates himself, less as a playground and more as a piece of art available for climbing. Paralyzed below the shoulders, in a Fall in September 2005, the artist and Yale educated architect is still designing unique, multistory play structures that have become histrademark creations over the past two decades.Spencer Luckey, Tom’s oldest son, recently joined Luckey LLC after operating his own design and fabrication company. Spencer, also a Yale Architecture School graduate, brings a 21st century sensibility of design and fabrication to the team.Derek Keil joined Luckey climbers in 2007 after studying chemistry and architecture at Yale and RPI respectively. Before joining Luckey climbers Derek collaborated on exhibitions both domestically and internationally with X-design labs, Gensler+Gutierez, and Materialab."The Luckey climber is the anchor of our Power Play exhibit. The inherently simple activity of climbing is transformed into an interactive, engaging and beautiful work of art as children fill the many levels and pathways throughout the climber. It’s an awesome, stimulating and exciting experience for children of all ages."
