About Lucky Tran

Dr. Lucky Tran is a biomedical scientist and a Director of Science Communication at Columbia University. As a public health communicator, Dr. Tran has appeared in the media, trained scientists and physicians on how to speak to the media, and helped organize several COVID advocacy groups.Dr. Tran is a leader in science advocacy who has trained and mobilized millions of scientists. As a steering committee member, Lucky was one of the founders of the March for Science, the largest day of science advocacy in history, with over one million participants in over 600 cities worldwide. Dr. Tran is passionate about the intersections of climate change and health, and has attended several UN climate conferences, organized many large actions and marches including the People’s Climate March, and is a Grist 50 Fixer. Dr. Tran is an author of the book Science Not Silence, and his writing has been published in The Washington Post, The Guardian, Scientific American and more.Dr. Tran studied microbes during his PhD at the University of Cambridge, and completed his postdoc at Cornell University. Dr. Tran is a refugee who grew up in Australia and now lives in New York.
