I will be facilitating the development, implementation, and maintenance of standards, guidelines, and direction for the software development architecture. I will be guiding the direction and definition to effectively support the business strategy, and will conduct research, analyze, design, propose, and deliver solutions that are appropriate for the business and technology strategies. I will be doing a lot of documentation of different systems and proposing paths for ABC to take to move our systems in a future-looking direction. I will be interacting with customers, vendors, industry leaders, and internal stakeholders to assure that software development is positioning us to be at the forefront of health club management software. I will also be tackling many technical debt initiatives to help us move forward and better serve our customers.

Previously, I was the technical manager of a group of developers. ABC SD has moved into cross-functional teams and as one of the software engineering managers, I now manage two different software development teams. These teams consist of a product owner, a number of software developers, a number of software testers, and a business analyst. My management responsibilities now include all of these resources except for the product owners. I am also a part of the new leadership structure at ABC where we are looking at improving processes to get us prepared for the future.

With my title, I will continue doing what I did as a senior developer, but I also will be in charge of the technical and product strategy for ABC. I will engage in conversations with the business side of our company and help come up with solutions for business problems that fit into our overall technical and product strategy. I will be coding on our platforms, but most of my work will center around prototypes for incorporating new technologies into our enterprise.

As technical manager, I oversaw 15 java focused web application developers. I performed expected day to day duties of a manager for them on top of consulting on most of our projects during the high level grooming phase of development. I also was the voice of technology for SD while interacting with our many clients and external vendors.

We at ABC wear many hats. In any given day, I may be doing some devops work, profiling an iPhone application, writing a B2B web service, writing a page for a javascriptMVC rich internet application, re-working some service orchestration in one of our Mule ESB projects, etc. I am currently focusing on a apprenticeship program for ABC which will start in June.

I created java server pages to implement new features in our flagship software product. I also worked in a java back-end writing new business logic and database code. I spent quite a bit of time doing data investigation using SQL for support tickets.

I did application development using Delphi for an internal bug tracking application. I also was over updating client software in different environments over VNC connections.
