I am the architect of a BI application suite dedicated to the Media/Marketing field, and the main developer of the underlying BI engine which is a workhorse for the company. My expertise is required to make a very flexible architecture, ready for changes, allowing to easily plug in custom behaviours (including business-specific aggregates not available in standard BI tools), robust and maintainable (the core of our main application is nearly 20 years old, now). I am also very concerned about performance because of the volume of the data and the complexity of the calculations. (regarding the overlap with other experiences, I actually started work for Espaces TV Communication as a Freelance, but I am now fully employed by Espaces TV Communication)(regarding the location: actually working mainly near Brussels, with weekly jumps to the HQ in Paris area).

This actually fully overlaps with my career at Espaces TV Communication, as Village data was the IT subsidiary of Espaces TV Communication. Village data merged with Espaces TV Communication, when Espaces TV Communication has been acquired by Ipsos.Application architecture, project management.

I was expected to work on Microsoft-based applications, but the company switched to Java/Oracle before I did start the mission. Finally, my primary job was about Java client application architecture and my secondary job was about customizing CASE tools for our software development process.

I did work on revamping the Windows edition of a very popular French dictionary for children (my only product ever been available to the masses), and on adapting/optimizing a spare parts database client application to be able to also work with remote data besides local data (previously on CDROMs).My best souvenir regarding team playing.

I worked a few years as a freelance with partners such as Sys-Five and DBBase in Belgium, and IOS in France.I worked mainly on:- Médiamétrie Poste de Travail (daily French TV audience), for Espaces TV Communication, which later became my full employer- statistical tools around LIS (Logiciel d'Investigation Statistique)- advertsiment tarif simulation for the TV Channel "La 5"- production planning and supply chain management for a large manufacture in France; if we should all have a failed project which teached us a lot of things, this is mine (waterfall project management leading to a huge mismatch vs. customer expectations)

I did work on the first PC-hosted statistical databases of the company ("Tractionel", at that time), for a large inter-governmental organization and for several national energy providers around the world. I did design the UI Application Framework for client applications.I also teached APL (which shares many similarities with Matlab, Octave and R), C, MSDOS and Codasyl databases (the ancestor of the current graph no-sql databases), in French and English, to engineers from various countries.
