Worked as a metals analyst mainly involved in soil extraction using several UKAS accredited methods, as well as carrying out fluoride analysis using ISE. My role involved maintaining the quality of results whilst meeting sample deadlines which were monitored using KPIs, ensuring the need to work quickly and accurately. I was also expected to carry out general laboratory tasks including performing calibration checks and maintaining equipment, making up standards, using labware (LIMS) to record data, and adhering to laboratory health and safety requirements.

Mainly worked as a bartender but was also involved in waitressing large events held at the golf club weekly. As part of a small group of staff, I was required to take on other responsibilities such as closing and opening the bar, cashing up, collecting laundry, and recording stock.

I was involved in scanning and digitising files as well as other administrative duties. It gave me insight into working in an office environment alongside a professional team of staff.
