Newsweek Vantage is the thought leadership arm of Newsweek, the news media organization with an audience of more than 50 million users and over 3.5 million C-levels.

Research Director for a thought leadership firm co-founded with former EIU colleague Nigel Holloway. Primary goal is to develop unique, collaborative, innovative thought leadership programs for clients in a range of sectors. Mission is to help clients ask the right questions so that they can maximize the business potential value of thought leadership. The content solutions developed will leverage world-class experience and expertise to develop unique, effective and influential research programs.

Clients include Economist Intelligence Unit, World Wildlife Fund, Horizon Group, CH. Topics: Global citizenship and the workplace of the future, youth development, sustainability and carbon capture systems, and agrifood sector topics including food systems, protein and nutrition systems.

Appointed to build an international agrifood research consultancy practice. Formalized the practice based on an existing portfolio of clients and projects. Secured two new clients and engagements representing $1.3M; exceeded sales target by 63%. Identified new clients, developed proposals and initiated research projects. Conducted research on sustainable food systems. Presented key analysis and findings at the European Commission in Brussels and at the 7th International Forum on Food & Nutrition conference in Milan, Italy. Topic: Key findings, “The Food Sustainability Index.” Supported other practice areas: Initiated and completed a global study on (1) youth employment and entrepreneurship, and (2) diversity and inclusion in finance and commercial real estate.

 Developed global research projects benchmarking country capacity to support AI transformation, sustainable growth, and talent and skills development. Specifically focused on education and training with regard to digital skills development and assessment of overall labor force readiness. Notable research included:o ‘Automation Readiness Index’ for ABB.o ‘Food Sustainability Index’ for Barilla Center for Food and Nutrition.o ‘Access to Health Care Index’ for Gilead Sciences.  Initiated a process to monitor and report on the progress and effectiveness of projects. Implemented for the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) – Prosperity Fund.  Identified and secured a significant number of new clients and increased engagements with existing clients. Result was an increase in regional sales revenue of 35% in 2017 and 25% in 2018. Restructured teams in London and Dubai including hiring and developing new consultants to service clients in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

 Designed and led 2 major research studies:o ‘No Ceilings’ – Twenty-year global study to measure the progress of women and girls across a broad spectrum of twelve areas including health, education, and employment on behalf of the Gates and Clinton Foundations.o ‘Global Food Security Index’ - conducted assessment of food systems in 110 countries to identify the drivers of food sustainability and best practices. Findings used to highlight the priorities and application in supporting food security efforts worldwide. Sponsored by DuPont and subsequently Corteva Agriscience. Developed a human capital practice focused on international talent, and diversity and inclusion. o ‘Human Capital Resourcing Index’ built for Rio Tinto to support the firm’s human capital strategy.o ‘Diversity Readiness Index’ – global benchmarking study to assess overall workplace diversity. Used by government agencies and companies to inform on related policy matters. Study sponsored by SHRM. Increased revenue by 25% in 2013 and 2014. Managed and developed 4 regional office teams (NY, DC, Chicago and San Francisco). Staffed and developed the teams with subject and technical expertise, necessary to effectively complete client projects.

 Conducted extensive quantitative and qualitative analysis. Designed the research project, gathered data and information, build econometric models, completed analysis, and prepared written report of key findings, including client presentations, workshops and media communications.o ‘HSBC Global Opportunity Tool’ – resource for US and Canadian SME’s to understand international market demand for their products and services.o Developed and managed a cost model to validate outreach goals for three program areas: vaccines, small holder agriculture, and water and sanitation in the developing world. Engaged by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. o Conducted two studies on behalf of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) focused on (1) global access to micro-finance and (2) women’s entrepreneurship in Latin America.  Developed and implemented the first digital platform to make available project study results and other data, information, and interactive tools for use by engaged stakeholders. o Expanded use of this concept led to a 50% increase in revenue.
