• The bait: Age 12, I was shown around the printing presses of The Daily Mail late at night. The noise of the presses, the smell of ink... I remember it still.• The hook: School 'work experience' at The Watford Observer, shadowing a reporter to the home of Eric Morcambe, a comedian I adored. • The reel: A degree in social and economic history that made no difference to anything. Waste of time probably.• The float: The Antique Collector Magazine. I knew nothing about antiques, but you gotta start somewhere. • Into the weeds: Subeditor at Your Sinclair Magazine. Turns out I was a hopeless proof reader. Got the sack.• Landed: Today newspaper was the first color newspaper in Britain. The newsroom was the most exciting place I'd ever been. I worked on the foreign desk for Ben Pogrund, one of the world's great humanitarians and journalists. I felt I was hanging onto the coat-tails of greatness, typing his letters to Nelson Mandela who was his friend. Became a feature writer - had more fun than I can possibly say.• The bigger pond: Moved to Los Angeles to interview Hollywood celebrities and write bigger stories. Not many British journalists filing stories back to UK at the time. Wrote a weekly Hollywood column and reportage for Marie Claire magazine, which took me everywhere including Tonga to meet the king.• Still hanging on the line. My work has appeared in publications around the world including The Los Angeles Times, The London Times, The Telegraph, The Guardian, The Independent, The Daily Mail, Glamour magazine, Marie Claire (US, Australian and UK editions), Cosmopolitan, The Carousel and Women Love Tech.• Latest venture: Author of two books about the TV show Ted Lasso - because I loved it so much!
