Lucy Bucher D.O. Email and Phone Number
I'm not really into titles and labels, but I understand their value in sparking curiosity and offering insight. The key is letting them capture individuality, not perpetuate stereotypes. When I think about how people might describe me—personally or professionally—it makes me smile. Some may call me "Doctor," "Servant Leader," or even "Hippie." Quite an interesting mix!But maybe not... I bring my authentic self to both my clinical and administrative work, guided by core values: respect for all and a strong work ethic. Here's more detail about these labels.**DOCTOR:** I've always wanted to be a physician. I chose osteopathic medical school for its holistic approach, respecting the natural physiology of the body, which aligns with my value of respecting every individual. I had no backup plan if becoming a doctor didn’t work out, so I did not let curve balls interfere with achieving my goal. I’m grateful to have found my way to OB/GYN, a field where I can offer not just medical care but also trust, peace, and comfort in uneasy times. The skills I developed leading care teams in high-acuity situations, while also tending to patients' emotional needs, have directly influenced my leadership style.Which leads to the next word...**SERVANT LEADER:** I was raised by a mother who worked as a nurse in a community hospital serving an impoverished urban area, and I grew up in a church that emphasized service and valued the marginalized. I spent countless hours with our youth group building houses and helping in flood zones across Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Our congregation was a Welcoming and Affirming space for the LGBTQ community over 30 years ago, even when it got us expelled from the larger denomination. I then attended Earlham College, a Quaker school, where pacifism and the inherent value of every person were central teachings. Simply put, we need to take care of each other however we can.So, about that last word...**HIPPIE:** I’m a bit of a hippie at heart. In college, I made my own clothes, grew out my hair, and created jewelry. Even today, I connect with the hippie ethos of peace, love, community, and a deep appreciation for nature. I’m happiest outdoors, whether by the ocean or at a music festival, grounded by the healing power of nature.I love that I can practice medicine while also contributing administratively to our mission of improving health. As I grow as a leader, I remain committed to putting people first, because true success requires a strong team and clear, meaningful priorities.
