In this role I developed, conducted and managed research and evaluation projects as well as overseeing the charity’s data and reporting requirements. I sat on a restorative Youth Offender Panel, meeting local young people who had been given Referral Orders. Alongside a second panel member I chaired panel meetings, negotiated compliance contacts with the young person, and reviewed the Order throughout its duration. I undertook ongoing training, as directed by the Youth Justice Board.

I had sole responsibility for running the night shift (11pm to 8.30am) at the largest venue of the annual Crisis Open Christmas. I coordinated more than 100 volunteers to run the open access centre for around 400 homeless and vulnerably housed guests. This role involved managing a team of assistant shift leaders, logistics personnel, general volunteers.

This fieldwork contributed to a national study, “Measuring Crime and Disorder In and Around Licensed Premises”, commissioned by the Home Office.
