I lead NPL’s work on the traceable composition measurement of energy gases for decarbonising heat & power, including biomethane, biogas, natural gas, hydrogen for heat and nuclear applications. My role involves bidding for, and leading scientific work, representing the UK internationally within standardisation, facilitating the provision of measurement services, promoting science outputs internationally, and providing leadership and technical direction to a dedicated team of scientists.Current appointments:Chair of BSI/PTI/15 (Natural Gas and Gas Analysis)Chair of GERG (European Gas Research Group) Biomethane working group Chair of EMN for egenry gases Stratetic Recearch Agenda Task GroupMain scientific outputs: - Novel measurement techniques to support the diversification and sustainability of the energy market.- Traceable primary reference materials to support measurement requirements with UK & global gas networks.- Training, consultancy and input into standardisation. End users include gas grid operators, refineries, biogas and biomethane production facilities, and instrumentation manufacturers.
