- Team Lead for the Nevada Wildland Fires Project, part of the NASA DEVELOP 10-week program located at Goddard Space Flight Center, in Greenbelt, MD. The project investigated the cause of increased wildfires in the habitat of the Mojave Desert Tortoise, which resides in southern Nevada and the surrounding states. The increased wildfires occur partially due to invasive grasses that have taken hold in the area (which outcompete native plant life and fill interspaces, leading to easier and faster fire spread) - our goal was to conduct a feasibility study on whether remote sensing could be used to help local natural resources management in predicting invasive grass hotspots and finding relationships between climatic conditions and wildfire occurrences.- Investigated drivers of fuel load growth with remote sensing data over a 20-year period in the Mojave Desert for the benefit of partner organizations such as the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service.- Directed and worked alongside a team of three to create maps, models, and a technical paper for the benefit of partner organizations using ArcGIS Pro, R, and Google Earth Engine and outside information on soil composition, precipitation, land surface temperature, and more.- Acted as the primary point of contact for governmental partner organizations, organizing meetings and incorporating feedback.- Presented results in poster form at NASA HQ, and as a spoken presentation at NASA GSFC.
