Hi there! My name is Lucy, and I'm a junior at the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in Plan II and Studio Art, with minors in Art History, Business, and Mandarin Chinese.Plan II, an interdisciplinary honors program, has developed my problem-solving and writing skills. I've taken enriching courses like World Literature with Professor Lito Porto, where we explored texts from diverse regions and perspectives, with my favorite being The Hour of the Star by Clarice Lispector. I'm looking forward to developing my final thesis during my senior year. After taking 2D Design with Professor Zachary Meisner in Spring 2024, I fell in love with UT's art department and decided to pursue a BA in Studio Art. My experience as an Art History major for the past two years has been invaluable, enhancing my close observation and critical thinking skills and helping me contextualize my work within the art world. Classes like "Other Modernities: Latin American Art" and "Issues in Visual Culture" with Professor Adele Nelson have been particularly influential.Plan II and my art background have enabled me to connect diverse interests meaningfully. My Business minor is helping me apply these insights practically, aiming to develop innovative solutions that integrate artistic vision with sustainable practices. Ultimately, I want to leverage my visual arts, design, and language skills to make a meaningful impact, particularly in the nonprofit sector.
