National

As Lead for Hospitality I work with a team of other Quality Assurers to ensure that standards are maintained nationally and that we all adopt the same approach with the assessment teams. In my role as SME I work closely with out 2 awarding bodies (Pearson and BIIAB) and also with our customers which include Admiral Taverns and Star Bars and Clubs. I look at ways in which internal training at these companies can be mapped directly into our qualifications. I have also worked closely particularly with BIIAB in the development of learning resources for the Licensed Hospitality qualifications and more recently have been involved in the development of the new Pub Chef Apprenticeship. I am involved as well in the process of gaining new business and am currently part of this process with Ask Italian, Fullers and Intercontinental Hotels. The part I play in this is very much about listening to the needs of these potential customers and then producing resources and tailoring our approach to suit their needs.

North

As a Regional Quality Assurer I was responsible for a team of assessors delivering Hospitality qualifications to caseloads of learners in a variety of settings. I was responsible for the quality assurance sampling of all Hospitality qualifications within my region along with the support and monitoring of my assessors. I would ensure all awarding body requirements were met through sampling and support. I would also hold regular standardisation and CPD activity with my team and would complete monthly reviews of their performance.

South West

As an Assessor I delivered work-based apprenticeships in Hospitality, Management, Team Leading and Customer Service. I maintained and motivated a caseload of 40 learners in a variety of settings. I was also a part of the Access to Apprenticeships programme that involved delivering training on the Hospitality industry alongside other skills including CV writing, interview techniques and time management to young people seeking employment in the sector. During my time as an assessor I was part of an Ofsted inspection for which the company achieved a grade 2.

South West

Initially employed as a bartender I worked in all departments and was subsequently promoted to a management position. I progressed to senior management and held the position of General Manager at 2 different sites during my time with the company. I was also responsible for national training initiatives and a revitalisation programme of the bars across the estate. I was completely accountable for the running of the business.
