Creative writer/editor, with 20 years’ experience in the media. Currently working as an editing/writing consultant as well as a writing coach. My professional editing career began as an intern editor with South Centre in Geneva, Switzerland in 2000, as an assistant to the Editor of the South Bulletin - in charge of designing and copy editing the newsletter. I also kick-started my journey to freelance writing with the New Vision.I then joined Vision Group as a sub-editor in 2006; quickly rising through the ranks to become chief sub-editor (Features Desk) and Editor of Her Vision, a woman’s weekly pull-out. In 2012, I was appointed Deputy Editor, Sunday Vision, Contributing Editor Saturday Vision (2015) and Editor, Bride & Groom Magazine in 2016 to 2019. During my 13-year stay at Vision Group, I was heavily involved in special editorial projects; trained and coached many young writers, some of whom have won various prestigious awards in the CNN African Journalism of the Year and African Centre for Media Excellence awards.After New Vision, I worked at World Vision as a Copy Editor, a contract I held for 9 months, from October 2019 to July 2020. Since 2020, I have worked as an editing and writing consultant, working with individuals and companies, including KPMG-Uganda, Ministry of Health and Local Government (under GiZ funded programs). I also coach writing skills and do book editing.My love for the creative word has seen won me accolades right from high school to an Editor’s Choice Award in a poetry competition. I was also among the poets featured in the Boda Boda Anthem, a collection of Ugandan poems by Babishai Niwe Poetry Foundation. As an editor, I have worked on several projects, including the 50-year anniversary magazine for Deliverance Church in 2018; a newsletter for the Uganda Diaspora in London called The Uganda Post (which I also designed). I am conversant in the English Language, a strength that has helped me succeed as a writer, coach and editor. I am also adept at newspaper, newsletter and magazine design, making me a versatile editor. Most recently, I have now ventured into social media content management.Outside of work, I am a mother of three, involved in a women’s empowerment movement – Evolving Woman Uganda, and continue to write poetry. time job in which I can grow professionally and help in the company's growth
