An introductory course into publishing in order to educate delegates on the different roles of which the industry is comprised. There were lectures on consumer data, print vs e-formats, children reading, audiobooks, bookselling, design, commissioning, rights, production, digital innovation, literary agents, marketing, and UK sales. Throughout the course we worked on projects assigned to us by publishing houses. I presented a pitch to an employee of Hachette UK, providing me with the experience of pitching to professionals.

Prepared and led activities and excursions for foreign students aged 12-17, requiring organisation, creativity, engagement with children, ability to think on my feet, enthusiasm and stamina. An example of an excursion was a full day trip to London from Eastbourne which entailed communicating with coach drivers, ensuring the safety of children while making the day fun and enjoyable, keeping to a timetable to attend pre-booked activities, and providing an engaging tour of some of London's sites.
