Working as part of an established research group which is researching the authentication of the plant content of herbal remedies using DNA profiling and chromatography techniques.DNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, cataloguing of seed samples. Accuracy and attention to detain are a must. Following all laboratory health and safety and working protocols.

Worked with two other interns and Course and Year Programme Leaders.Reviewed existing literature to establish what employability skills are required by employers of forensic scientistsDiscussed this complex topic with experts in the field, liaised with other team members to organise workload, reported progress at group meetings.Used finding to audit current Forensic Science course.Contributed to producing a guide to employability for future students.Joint presentation to each year group (approx 40 students/group) on employability.
