I am a Project Delivery Manager for the Pay & Conditions review at the University of Oxford. I will update this section in due course once I am embedded in my new role.

I am the Programme Manager of the Oxford Interdisciplinary Bioscience Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP), which is a four-year DPhil programme funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) that is based in the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences (MPLS) Doctoral Training Centre, University of Oxford. We currently have 180 on-course students across two Universities and eight partner organisations as well as numerous industrial CASE partners. My responsibilities include the financial management of approximately £34 million in grant and other funding, industrial CASE contracts, student recruitment and admissions, student progression, module administration, and overall programme management. As part of my role, I work closely with two academic Programme Directors and line manage one administrator and one temporary member of staff to coordinate and organise work across the team. I am also a key contact for all students and their supervisors and industrial partners.

I represented Research Staff on the Departmental Board, Department of Zoology, University of Oxford. I also chaired the Zoology Early Career Researchers Network, including organising and coordinating a team of 19 committee members and organising social events.

I represented Research Staff on senior University Committees. I co-chaired the MPLS Research Staff Forum (Jan 2021 – Sept 2021) including representing research staff on MPLS Divisional Board. I then Chaired the Research Staff Consultation Group (Sept 2021 - July 2022) representing over 5,000 research staffs at the University of Oxford on senior University committees including theResearch and Innovation Committee. I led the writing and presentation of policy papers at university committees.

I was the module leader of the 3-week intensive Statistics and Data Management module for DPhil students. I led and managed the redesign of the module from one course level into two levels (beginner and intermediate) in 2020, alongside ensuring the smooth transition of the course to online during the pandemic. Through this role, I have interacted with senior academics, professional services staff, and students to ensure the timely delivery of the course for up to 120 students. I was also the course coordinator and lecturer for the one-week Responsible and Reproducible Research module.

I helped design and organise MPLS Mental Health Awareness Week, which was an initiative my team and I designed from scratch to support postgraduate students and staff. We organised and ran 31 free events at short notice to coincide with the national Mental Health Awareness week from the 10th-15th May 2021. In total, we had 1,747 registrations from 660 unique individuals. The wide reach and success of the week has led MPLS to organise the week as an annual permanent fixture. I won two divisional ED&I Awards for this work, including ‘Best Team Effort’ with my three teammates as it was combined team effort that led to the enormous success of the week. I was also shortlisted for the Vice Chancellors Diversity Awards in the category of Staff ED&I Champion. I also assisted with the divisional strategy on mental health.

I conducted independent research on risk-taking behaviour in elephants using GPS tracking data and analysis in R. I project managed research projects, including communicating and coordinating with collaborators in the UK, Kenya, and the USA. I supervised student projects, including statistical advice. I wrote grant applications and scientific papers.

I gained international research experience working on risk-taking behaviour and population dynamics of elephants. I continued to provide data management support in excel and R. I taught coding and data skills to Kenyan staff. I also coordinated and managed a large co-author review paper. Alongside this work, I set up a mentoring scheme for Zoology DPhil students at the University of Oxford.

I conducted a data audit and review of all data systems. I liaised with both team leaders and data users in Kenya to understand current systems and user needs, and then implement and communicate new data systems. I cleaned and organised data using Excel and R.

I conducted research including assessing the diets of captive greater kudus, collating the body masses of wild lemurs, and assessing the prevalence of obesity in captive lemurs. I contributed to grant applications and publications for the IUCN/SSC Primate Specialist Group. I supervised and provided statistical advice for student projects. I helped organise conferences. I also developed feeding plans for animals at Bristol Zoo.

I gained international research experience working on a research trial investigating the abrasiveness of captive feeds on toothwear using goats.

I was a student ambassador which involved speaking to and marketing courses to prospective students and their families at both internal events and external trade shows. I also trained and supervised other ambassadors.

I represented students both at a course and college level. I was on the Learning Teaching and Assessment Committee (2008/09), the Modular Scheme Committee (2009/10) and I participated in internal and external reviews, including subject reviews.

Defra funded trial on cattle behaviour towards oral tuberculosis vaccine baits for badgers.

I helped to organise and run a trial on organic, farm-sourced feed for broiler chickens.
