Upholsterer And Workshop Leader
CurrentI am a designer maker living and working in Sussex. I run Rounded by producing modern upholstered furniture. Useful objects, made well. Originally trained in prop making at Central School of Speech & Drama, I ‘fell’ into marketing feature films, first at Universal Pictures and then at Paramount Pictures before retraining in traditional & modern upholstery at The Thomas Calton Centre and then The Goodlife Centre. My work is informed by the idea that “If you can’t fix it, you don’t own it”. I use natural & revalued materials, techniques which allow for repair, my work is made for life, not landfill. I run fun, friendly, informal workshops “I want students to gain experience & confidence with a mix of modern & traditional upholstery tools & principles, importantly, leaving with a make&take piece”.I run workshops in Lewes at The Paddock Art Studios, at The Goodlife Centre in Bermondsey, London andthis summer at West Dean College in Chichester.
