Lucy Casale is Sr. Associate Director for Washington MESA. MESA stands for Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement. MESA is committed to building a pathway to college and careers in science, technology, engineering & mathematics (STEM) since 1982 in Washington State; a program that develops programming and initiatives to improve diversity, retention and completion with an emphasis on traditionally underrepresented students in STEM fields, including African Americans, Native Americans, Hispanic/Latinos, Pacific Islanders and women. Casale began her career in STEM access and equity with California MESA, where she held various executive leadership positions, and has over 25 years of experience as an advocate, with a demonstrated history of work in higher education with an emphasis on addressing the academic achievement gap. She is skilled in academic planning, college admissions, public speaking, student leadership and development, extensive project management, grant development, large scale program administration, and research. Casale is a dedicated advocate of the most underserved students in Washington State, with a passion for educational equity and success in STEM for community college students.
